In late October, 1971, Northshore Mall hosted its grand opening celebration. They advertised a Halloween value party on Saturday, October 30, 1971. Radio personality Phil McLean did his show live from 2 until 7 pm. The new Northshore Shopping Center promised to take away the "drudgery" of shopping with covered, heated sidewalks, gorgeous landscaping, and more.
